How to Access Rossier Department Folders on a Mac


You MUST be connected to the USC network via one of these types of connections:

  • Wired via Ethernet cable within the Rossier School
  • USC Secured Wireless
  • Or off campus using other wireless network connections while also connected first to USC VPN (Requires Cisco AnyConnect)

PLEASE NOTE: YOU DO NOT NEED TO CONNECT TO VPN IF ON CAMPUS AND CONNECTED THROUGH ETHERNET CABLE OR WIRESLESSLY ON USC SECURED WIRELESS

Skip the following "Connecting to USC VPN" and proceed to "Connecting to Rossier Shared Drives" section if you are on campus and conned via Ethernet cable or USC Secured Wireless

Connecting to USC VPN (if necessary)

1. Open the Cisco VPN AnnyConnect application on the computer. Make sure the VPN address is vpn.usc.edu. Click connect and log in with your USC username and password (Shibboleth).

If the computer does not have the Cisco AnyConnect VPN application go to step #2 otherwise, please skip this section.

2. Log in to USC VPN service by going to vpn.usc.edu in any browser. When prompted choose AnyConnect from the Side menu and click Start AnyConnect.

3. Download & Install Cisco AnyConnect for MacOS

Connecting To Rossier Shared Drives.


Please follow the instructions to access the SANDS network drive. 

  1. Open Finder  , select the Go menu item and choose Connect to Server from the list. The Connect to Server dialog box will appear.
     
  2. In the Address field, enter smb://ED2/Groups and click Connect.



  3. Enter your Rossier Domain Account Username and Password. Your RSOE username is the same as your USC NetID with RSOE\ added to the front, e.g. RSOE\username. Then click connect.
              i. Double check to make sure the "Registered User" radio button is selected.

Please Note: Your Rossier Domain Password is generally what you use to logon to your Rossier computer on campus and is different from your Shibboleth password. 

  1. Once logged in, you will see the RSOE folder(s) authorized for you inside of Groups as shown below
